Ranbir Kapoor, the rising star in Bollywood, is the son of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh Kapoor. He hails from a family that has been involved with the Bollywood industry for generations. In fact, it is often reckoned as the first family of Bollywood. Ranbir is the great grandson of Prithviraj Kapoor, and the grandson of actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor. Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor are his uncles and Karisma Kapur, Kareena Kapoor and Nikhil Nanda are his cousins.

He completed his schooling from Bombay Scottish High School, Mumbai and graduated from Lee Strasberg’s Institute, New York. His favourite sports include Cricket, Soccer and Chess. Rishi Kapoor and Akshaye Khanna are among his favourite actors and his favorite actress is Kajol.

His acting debut was Saawariya, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film failed to succeed at the box office but Ranbir’s work was highly appreciated. Saawariya also won him the Filmfare award for the Best Male Debut.
